Greetings Green Bay! Ethan Brown here with a roundup of local happenings you won’t want to miss. Whether you’re looking for art, music, community connection, or family fun—there’s something going on now and in the near future.
Today & Near-Term Highlights
Community Engagement & Volunteerism
Today, the Boys & Girls Club of the Bay & Lakes Region’s “Career Ties” event takes place from 3:00–4:30 p.m. at the City East Center (111 North Roosevelt Street). Geared toward tweens and teens, this is a chance to network, learn about career options, and make meaningful connections. Also happening: HubCAP-One Stop School Shop — an all-day event focused on distributing backpacks and supplies to up to 3,000 students; registration was required. Great options if you’re looking to give back or plug into community support initiatives. (Events listed in local calendars.)
Coming Events to Keep on Your Calendar
Here are several events in the coming weeks that offer fresh experiences worth planning for:
- ArtFest Green Bay (August 22–23): Over two days downtown, enjoy art fair booths, live stages, food vendors, and public art projects at Cherry & Jefferson Streets.
- Hairball & Yachtley Crew at the Resch Complex Plaza — live music outside starting at 6:00 p.m. (August 27).
- Pooches in the Pool: Joannes Aquatic Center opens its pool to dog swim fun from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (August 29).
Ongoing Programs & Seasonal Staples
If today’s options aren’t quite your speed, Green Bay keeps rolling with recurring events that match a variety of interests:
- FIT in the Parks: Drop-in wellness sessions (yoga, ZUMBA, pilates) at places like Astor and CityDeck throughout the parks schedule.
- Green Bay City Band Concerts: Evening concerts at St. James Park remain a beloved tradition—bring lawn chairs and a cool drink.
- Wildlife Sanctuary programs: Events like wolf feedings, eagle talks, and critter counters at Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary offer insight into local nature.
What to Know Before You Go
- Check official city or venue websites—times and places are sometimes adjusted due to weather or other factors.
- Some events require registration in advance, especially donation-based or capacity-limited events like the school supply giveaways.
- Many outdoor events include food and music, so bring snacks, water, maybe cash for vendors.
If there’s a group or event you’re curious about—art, sports, family friendly, or hidden gems—just let me know and I’ll dig it up. Green Bay has plenty more in store.
